Halloween (finally)

We had a great Halloween.  It started off with a party at my friends house on Thursday morning, followed by another party on Friday night, and finally Trick-or-Treating on Saturday. We went to my parents neighborhood to trick-or-treat this year.  They live in an amazing neighborhood of about 100 homes on a gravel road that all circle around a lake.   The neighborhood put together a hay ride for the kids.  We loaded up on the hayride and road around the neighborhood.  All the neighbors came to the end of their driveways to hand out the candy so we didn't even have to get off the hayride to get candy.  It was awesome.  And Mommy let Brett and Kate eat candy for dinner- Brett was in heaven.  We got more candy than we could eat in 5 years! Brett and Kate loved it all.

Our computer has been down for almost a week now (which is killing me because I have not been able to upload Halloween pictures), but before I write a new post- please, please, please go here and read the post sweet Paige wrote about my mom.  And for those of you who know my mom- get a tissue out.  I have a blog because I love to post pictures of my kids- but I must admit that I really, really, really dislike writing.  Paige, on the other hand, is an amazing writer.  She has such a way with words.  In fact, after reading the post she did featuring my mom, you will probably add her blog to your bookmarks- yes- she is that good.  Thank you, Paige, for writing such a beautiful tribute to my mom.  And mom- I am so proud of you!

Since we missed Kate's birthday by a few days we decided to celebrate with our family of four when we got home.  Kate didn't quite know what to do with the cake- but she caught on quickly.  Happy birthday sweet girl- we love you!

DIagnosis for Dad

We got the pathology report back from Dad's surgery today.  They did find cancer in one of his lymph nodes so he will have to have chemotherapy.  Dad was really hoping that he would not have to go through that,  but we are thankful that it was only in one lymph node.  Please continue praying for my sweet, sweet dad.  The major hurdle is behind us, but we do still have a long journey ahead of us.  Also be praying that he gets to come home tomorrow.  He is beyond ready to get out of the hospital.

Thank you for praying for my dad.  His surgery went very well- the doctor felt very good about it.  Recovery, on the other hand, has been hard.  The medicines that they have him on for pain are making him uncomfortable and he has not been able to sleep.  He has slept less than 3 hours total in the past 48 hours.  Please be praying that he will be able to sleep.

I will update more soon- but I am heading out the door to the hospital.

Change of surgery time

Dad's surgery has been moved from 11am to 7:30am tomorrow!

Update on Dad

We got the CT scan report back yesterday and the cancer has not spread to any other organs!!!!  A huge praise!!  Dad's surgery will be this Thursday, Oct. 22 at 11am.  Please continue to pray for him, for the surgeon Dr. Cranford, and for his recovery.
