Talk about feeling old...

Most of you who know me know that I taught Kindergarten for several years- and loved every minute of it.  I was lucky enough to get all three of the Robinson children in my class. We spent the day with them on Saturday and all I can say is I feel really, really, really old now.  Adam is now 6'3 and in high school, Sydney is one inch shorter than I am, and Emma already wears a shoe size bigger than I do-so she will be towering over me before I know it too.  I can't believe how grown up they are now.  Brett had a blast playing with them (and I enjoyed six extra eyes keeping watch over my busy boy).  Thanks for a fun day Robinsons- even if you did make me feel so old!

Praise the Lord

For those of you who have not checked this website recently, see the post below this one for more details.  For those of you who are "in the know", we did NOT have to have surgery today!!!!  When Brett woke up this morning the tube was back to it's normal place!!!!  The doctor made me take pictures and send them to him.  He called back and said, "Feed the boy!"  Yeah!!!!  He said that never happens- thank you to everyone who was praying!!  We are so very thankful!

Number 4

Well, we are heading up to Atlanta tomorrow for eye surgery #4.  Brett was rubbing his eye tonight and when I looked to see if something was in it I saw that the tube they put in his eye had been pulled way out.  If you look closely in this picture you can see the tube in the corner of his left eye (the right eye as you look at the picture).  The tube was just in the corner of his eye- it is now looped way out and is in the middle of his eye.  The doctor is going to try to go up through his nose and tighten it tomorrow, but if he can't he will have to take the tube out.  It was suppose to stay in for 6 months- and has only been in for two.  And to top things off the surgery is not until sometime between noon and 1pm tomorrow- and you guessed it- the poor little guy can't have anything to eat until after it is over.   Please be praying for us tomorrow.

You might be a redneck if...

you spend your Saturday going to a "tractor pull".  Yes, we went to a tractor pull this weekend.  Brett LOVES tractors and yells "tra-ta" every time we see any kind of construction vehicle.  So, being the loving parents that we are- we took him to the tractor pull.  We went early for the parade- which included over 100 tractors driving down the street.  We then went to the "main event" but got too hot and tired before it started so we left.  And to be honest- I still don't know what a tractor pull actually is- but I do know a little boy who was sooooo excited to see so many tractors.  I mean- if you could see this face, wouldn't you take him to a tractor pull too?

Brett sees the tractors coming down the street.
One of the many tractors- they threw out candy as they went by.
Brett enjoying a lollipop- I think he enjoyed that as much as he did seeing the tractors.
Ok- is it just me or do these kids look 10 yrs old?  Is it legal to drive a tractor that young?

Picking blueberries (and rocks)

Since blueberries are Brett's very favorite thing to eat, we went to pick some last week.  Not a single blueberry made it into Brett's bucket- they all went into his mouth.  Besides, buckets are for carrying rocks- or so Brett is trying to teach me.  Despite the heat and the bugs- and chasing Brett around between every berry that I put into my bucket- we still had a great time.

Don't you just love this sign?  You know you live in a good town when you can still use the "Honor System".  The black box was an old tool chest with a hole cut in the top.  Gotta love it!
"Hey mom!  Where are all the blueberries?"
Putting rocks into his bucket.  He loves rocks and sticks!  What a boy!
Yummmm!

Contemplating putting the blueberry in his mouth or his bucket.
Look mom- I got another one!

Man this kid loves blueberries!  He was shoving them in his mouth as quick as he could.  It is a good thing they are good for you!

2 years

Last Friday marked a big day in the Skinner home.  It was on this day two years ago, 8-8-06, that we sent our paperwork off to China.  Never in our wildest dreams, or should I say nightmares, did we think we would be watching the Olympics in China without Kate by our side.  I can't believe that two years have gone by, and we are still no where in sight of bringing her home.  We know, however, that the Lord's timing is perfect so we decided to celebrate anyway with a little homemade sweet and sour chicken (a few days early since Brian was going to be out of town)

Ok- so I said homemade- can you call it "homemade when you have a little help from these guys to make it?
I hope everyone got to see the opening ceremony for the Olympics.  It was amazing.  We taped it so we can show it to Kate one day.  We had to pick our jaws up off the floor several times- very impressive.  We are really enjoying watching the Olympics this year.  It is so fun to see things like the Great Wall and know that we will get to be there one day.  Let's just pray that that "one day" comes very soon.

More fun with the Garrett girls

Brett is still walking around wondering where all the girls went.  He loved having someone to play with 24/7.  Here are some more pictures of our week together.

"Middle C" and Brett play in the pool.

"Big C" goes down the slide-n-slide.

Brett watching mommy go down the slip-n-slide (which he thought was hilarious).

A visit from the Garrett girls

Walking down to feed the ducks
My two best friends since 5th grade!
Feeding the ducks
Aren't they so cute!  They almost looked like twins from the back.

My best friend and her three girls came for a visit last week.  They moved to California three years ago, so it is a huge treat to get to see them.  Brett was in heaven having someone to play with every day.  I am afraid he is bored with just me now that they are gone.  "Big C" is 7, "Middle C" is 4, and "Little C" is less than a month older than Brett.  What a treat to spend the week with them.  Stacy, our other best friend, flew in and got to spend two days with us as well. It has been almost two years since we have all three been together.  It was so nice to be with "old" friends.
