First day of Pre-School

The long awaited first day of Pre-school was today and I had two VERY excited kids. Kate woke up 2 times last night (something she has never done) to ask if the sunshine was out yet so she could go to school. The first time she woke up she didn't call for me or Brian- she called for Brett- how cute is that! We had orientation last week and got to meet their teachers. They were so excited to see their rooms. They have been counting down the days since then to today. Brett wanted to take Kate to her room first. He took her all around her room to show her where her name was and show her all the pictures of her on the wall and her cubby. Kate started getting worried and asking if we were going to stay with her. I told her again about how she was going to stay with her friends and her teachers and I would be back after lunch. I also assured her that Brett was going to be right down the hall. Brett came over and started rubbing her back and patting her and giving her hugs. I almost lost it right there. Sweet big brother. We snuck out while she was with her teacher and took Brett to his room. He walked right in, hung up his bag, and started playing like he had been there for years. He gave us a hug, told us good-bye, and didn't even watch us leave. I was shocked- but very glad. The first day of pre-school and the only one who cried was me! Now I know how all those moms felt when they dropped their kids off to my Kindergarten class. I didn't think I was going to be so sad- but I was. Nothing a sweet tea from Chick-fil-A and some shopping couldn't fix though.

What I overheard in the back seat of the car today...

Brett: "Kate, when you were in China I missed you"
Kate: "GeGe, when I was in China I cried and cried and cried until you came to get me."

Kate and Anna Grace

Sweet Anna Grace and her mom and brother came down to spend the night a few weeks ago and we had the best time. Kate LOVES Anna Grace- and Anna Grace LOVES Kate- so they had quite the time together. I loved having a little break from my "shadow" as well. Thank you Anna Grace for being such a great "big sister" to Kate.
Anna Grace picked out some fabric and we made matching dresses for the girls

Toy Story 3

As you know, our sweet boy LOVES all things Toy Story- so we have been counting down the days to the release of Toy Story 3. We got tickets early and planned a "Mommy-Daddy-Brett" date for opening night. (Kate is not a big fan of movies) We have not done anything with just Brett since Kate got home, so we were really looking forward to his special night. We let him pick the restaurant and he picked La Parilla- our favorite mexican place. The first thing he did when we walked in was pick out a balloon to take home to Kate- sweet brother. After dinner we waited in line for 45 minutes to get into the theater (crazy huh). We all liked the movie and had so much fun spending time with our little guy. On the way home I asked Brett if he had fun having Mommy and Daddy all to himself and he said, "No, I missed Kate". Can you believe that!!!! They really do love each other so much!
Getting ready to go
Horrible picture- but had to include it anyway. This is Brett and Kate kissing each other
good-bye.
In front of the movie
Ready for the movie to start. How cute is he taking all of his stuffed animals in with him. Oh I could just eat him up!!!
